If You Live in Iowa, You’ll Want to Visit This Amazing Park This Winter

Urbandale Winter Park Sledding Hill in Iowa offers a perfect spot for winter activities like sledding and ice skating.

Parts of Iowa got a magical dusting of snow on Christmas Eve. While it may not be quite enough for an exciting afternoon of sledding we can dream, right?

There are plenty of great parks to visit during the coldest months here in Iowa. This place is one you'll want to put on your list this winter.

For snow lovers, the past few years in Iowa have been a bit disappointing.

In fact, we didn't have enough nature-made snow before December 24th to even go sledding once.

Now that the weather has turned cold and we have a bit of the white stuff, it's time to start making plans to spend a snowy and wintery day outdoors.

Urbandale Winter Park Sledding Hill is the perfect place.

This winter park is great for all ages and athletic abilities. The sledding hill isn't supervised, though. Young children should be accompanied by an adult.

We'll need at least four inches of snow for this giant winter park to open.

The park is 15-acres of open space. The sledding hill is about 800 feet long and offers a nice 40-degree downhill slope.

If you prefer to enjoy winter on skates, there's an ice rink nearby, too.

You can find this epic snow park behind Metro Ice Sports Arena at 5100 N.W. 72nd St., Urbandale.

There's parking nearby, but it gets crowded when there's a hockey league game.

The park is open between 6 am and 10:30 pm.

It's just a matter of time until Iowa needs snow plows.

Those of us who love ice skating and sledding are ready.

Where are you in Iowa? How much snow is on the ground?
