The Hidden Geode State Park Beach In Iowa Will Take You A Million Miles Away From It All

Iowa offers beautiful natural swimming spots like Lake Geode in Geode State Park, providing a serene alternative to busier tourist areas.

Iowa may not have sprawling ocean beaches, but it does have a plethora of beautiful natural swimming spots in its many lakes and rivers. Of course, everyone’s heard of or been to the Okoboji and Spirit Lake and had a blast swimming, water skiing, going to Arnolds Amusement Park, shopping and eating and just generally enjoying the bustling crowds and tourist attractions that the area has to offer. But sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere a little more off the beaten path, to just get away from it all and soak in the natural beauty from the warm sand and scenic water.

We think that Lake Geode, in Danville’s beautiful Geode State Park, is a hidden gem that provides relaxation and fun in the sun without all of the hustle and bustle.

The Geode State Park Beach is a perfect place to swim and enjoy a summer day.

The park is named for the geode stones that can be found in the area. You can see a display of geodes at the park office, but remember that it is illegal to remove geodes and other natural materials from the park.

Aside from swimming at the beach, there are plenty of other activities, like several hiking trails, fishing, picnic areas and even camping if you want to make a weekend of it.

There’s nothing as peaceful as watching a beautiful Iowa sunset over a lake, don’t you think?
