Have you ever been to a place that seemed just too beautiful to be real? Almost like it popped straight out of a storybook? We're lucky to live in a city bursting with natural beauty, where we get to have these moments nearly every day. However, if you're looking for a truly special place that will have you feeling like you walked into a fairy tale, you have to check out this gorgeous Indianapolis park.
Located just north of downtown Indy, Holliday Park is one of the city's oldest parks - and it's bursting with natural beauty.
This 94-acre park has 3.5 miles of trails to hike, an incredible playground, a whimsical nature center, and gorgeous ruins that will absolutely delight you.
This park was formed in 1916 when John and Evaline Holliday offered their gorgeous country estate to the city. This park offers a glimpse of countryside beauty, without ever having to leave the city.
Throughout the wooden ravines, you'll find enchanting wetlands and springs to explore.
There is also a small pond and a section of the White River that flows through the estate. More than 400 different species of trees can be found within the greenspace, as well as rabbits, foxes, deer, beavers, and other woodland creatures.
Of course, one of the most compelling and magical attractions in Holliday Park are the unique ruins in the heart of this rural retreat.
You'll find Greek columns, limestone statues, a reflecting pool, and a sculpture by Karl Bitter called "The Races of Mankind."
This unique sculpture once sat atop the St. Paul skyscraper in New York City before it was torn down in the 1950s.
The magic of these incredible ruins is what makes Holliday Park feel like a real life fairy tale, with unexpected treasures in surprising settings.
You'll also find charming statues and structures throughout the park, like this limestone pedestal which offers guests a magical and unique place to sit amongst the greenery.
The park's nature center is another incredible attraction with a creative design that seems to have popped out of a Dr. Seuss book.
Habitat Hall is bursting with unique, kid friendly displays full of educational and entertaining activities.
Here, kids can actually play a variety of instruments that mimic the sounds of real animals, play on structures, climb through logs, create animal tracks, dress up like their favorite animals and insects, and so much more.
Holliday Park is full of inspiration, with quotes spread throughout the park offering quiet words of wisdom in this outdoor paradise.
It's the perfect place to spend an afternoon, soaking in the park's ethereal beauty.
