The Amazing Soft-Sand Beach Every Hoosier Will Want To Visit

Nestled across Lake Michigan from Chicago, Illinois is East Chicago, Indiana, a vibrant small town that's got all the glitz of the big city with the delightful small-town charm one typically expects of the Hoosier State. It's a wonderful little town in and of itself, but it's harboring a wonderful secret: it's home to one of the best beaches in Indiana! If you're surprised that Indiana's got beaches, well, so was I at one point - but now I'm hopelessly obsessed with all the amazing shorelines there are in the lil' ol' Hoosier State. Let's take a look at beautiful Jeorse Park Beach, which is seriously all the best of Indiana's beaches rolled into one beautiful little place:

Welcome to Jeorse Park Beach: the perfect place for a min escape from the real world... if at least for a little while.

It's open from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day weekend, and during that time, you'll want to get your sink-the-toes-into-the-sand-time in as often as you can.

The water in Lake Michigan is absolutely pristine, and this stunning Indiana beach reflects this.

You'll be amazed at just how nice it is to dip your feet into the cool, clear water, kicking up the same soft sand the beach is made up of under your feet.

Sometimes, from certain angles, it looks (and feels) like the ocean.

Sure, Indiana might be landlocked, but thanks to the enormity of Lake Michigan and the silky-softness of the fawny-sand beaches along its shores, you can have a beach day anyway!

Of course, there's more to do than just the beach - for the kids, there's a splashpad and a playground, too.

Typically, the splash pad opens in June - just a little later than the rest of the beach - to allow daytime temperatures to get just a little warmer.

There is no lifeguard on duty, so be sure to be safe!

It's an excellent place for swimming, so if you'd rather not stay on the shore, there's always that, too. Just be cautious, and have an amazing time!
