The 2019 Super Blood Wolf Moon will be visible from Indiana (and anywhere else in the Western Hemisphere) January 20-21. Perfectly visible with the naked eye, this phenomenon isn't an everyday occurrence. Let's break down what it means.
Basically, we are going to have a total lunar eclipse. A partial one will be visible beginning around 10:30 p.m. and be done by 12:45 a.m. EST.
The moon will give off a reddish glow, as it always does when in the earth's shadow, and be totally eclipsed by 11:40 p.m. EST Your ability to see this gorgeous sight will be dependent upon the weather in your area.
The term "super" is used to describe this moon because it will be very close to earth in its orbit. This may make our celestial orb look bigger in the night sky.
It is called a wolf moon because it is the full moon of January. This denotation was given by Native American tribes and early colonists.
You won't see another lunar eclipse until 2021, and it likely won't occur with a super wolf moon again anytime soon. Forget your bedtime or set an alarm Sunday, January 20, 2019 to witness this marvelous transition.
