You’ll Fall In Love With The Tiny Waterfall Hiding Along This Breathtaking Indiana Trail

Indiana is an unsung hero when it comes to awesome hikes and hiking trails. With thousands of miles of trails (literally!) spanning all over the state, this amazing little corner of the US is grossly underrated. Take, for example, Turkey Run State Park. This incredible state park in Indiana is truly more like something out of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel than the American Midwest, and there's a trail here that just doesn't get enough credit: Trail #9, specifically. There are several amazing ways to explore Trail #9 - I'll go over two of the more popular options.

The first trail - or, rather, conglomeration of trails - is known as the Turkey Run Trail 3, 4, 9, 1, 2, and 4 Loop.

I know, it's a mouthful - but it's a blast!

Access the legendary Trail #9 - and several of its siblings - on this amazing, four-and-a-half-mile trek.

This one is considered moderately challenging, and folks should wear good shoes they're prepared to get wet. Despite the trail being quite shaded, I strongly recommend bringing sunscreen and drinking water.

This mash-up of trails - including Trail 9 - is famous for the "adorable" waterfall you'll discover along the way.

Though not at all short, this delicate-looking cascade is tiny when compared to the more legendary waterfalls in the state of Indiana, like Williamsport Falls - which is more than 90 feet high.

This waterfall is a lot smaller - and honestly, many will feel it's more beautiful for its petite nature.

The other option I'd like to mention is the Turkey Run Trails 3, 5, 8, and 9 Loop - which is 4.2 miles long and also rated as moderate. This one is generally thought to take a little less time than the aforementioned one, and it's incredibly intense beauty makes it a favorite among local hikers.

Of course, you could always opt to simply hike Trail #9 on its own - a bit challenging, but 100 percent wonderful.

If you're fascinated by old-growth virgin wood, a petite waterfall, and all the greenery you could ever hope for, Trail 9 is perfect for you. Just make sure you're up for the challenge!

My favorite part is the waterfall, but you never know - you could fall in love with just about anything along the way.
