This Zoo In Indiana Has Animals That You May Have Never Seen In Person Before

Tucked away on 45 beautiful acres in Evansville is a little slice of paradise that even some locals don't even know exists. It's the Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden, and it's a place you will never forget. It's organized into geographic locations, and you can expect to come face-to-face with some truly amazing exotic critters that you might have never seen before! You've been to the larger zoos in Indiana - now come to one of the smaller ones that still packs a big punch.

The Mesker Park Zoo and Botanic Garden is a stunningly lush, beautiful little piece of Heaven right here in the Midwest.

Here, you'll meet plenty of amazing new friends whom you've probably never been acquainted with before.

The zoo is very walkable and is sectioned into regional areas: Asia, the African Panorama, the African Rift, North America, and more.

In each section, you'll meet animals native to those regions and learn about them, their lives, and their survival.

Perhaps our favorite animal in the entire zoo is one in the Asia segment: a stunningly beautiful tigress.

Her name is Nuri, and she's a beloved member of the Mesker Park Zoo family. Her sheer size alone is sure to amaze you - you don't really understand just how large tigers are until you see one in front of you.

Visit with strange and unusual critters and friends, like anteaters and tapirs.

You'll also find your favorite "zoo regular" creatures too, of course - many of whom you'll spot in the African sections. Experience the wonder of watching zebras, giraffes, and sitatunga, among lots of other intriguing and truly beautiful animals in habitats that are carefully crafted to closely resemble their own.

You'll learn a lot while you're here, too, and we encourage you to ask questions along the way - just about every zookeeper you run into will be happy to educate and inform.

It's truly not every day you get to hang out with, say, penguins in the United States, so places like Mesker Park Zoo and other zoos in Indiana really hold a special place in our hearts. They bring some of our planet's purest, most beautiful life forms right to our front yard, and we love them for it!
