The Ambler Flatwoods North Loop Features A Tunnel Of Trees In Indiana And It’s Positively Magical
Michigan City, Indiana is a beautiful place. It's teeming with life, from wonderful shops and eateries to breathtaking views of Lake Michigan (not to mention the awesome Michigan City pier and lighthouse). However, it's also got some gems that are truly hidden - so much so that many locals aren't even aware of them. One such hidden gem is the wildly amazing Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve; there are several delightful hiking trails in this beautiful, not-so-little place, but there's one in particular that stands out far above the rest (hint: it's got an epic tunnel of trees in Indiana). Check it out:
Hidden away - almost literally - within LaPorte County is the Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve.
It's a spellbinding place that's sure to amaze, and the hiking trails here are quite literally just a small part of the overall experience.
But there's one trail in particular that, should you hike it, you'll stumble upon something so magical that it feels like it was ripped right out of the pages of a fairy tale.
It's one of the Midwest's best-kept secrets: a deep, dark tunnel of trees, luring hikers to come closer and see what secrets it holds.
Well, there aren't a lot of secrets to be found here, but amazing times are definitely on the menu.
The entire park is breathtaking, especially in the spring, when various parts are underwater thanks to gorgeous vernal pools.
There's a lot to take in in such a decently-sized place, but always be sure to look small: look under rocks. Check out the flora, fauna and fungi. It's an incredible place to kill an entire afternoon...
...but we just can't seem to get over that spellbinding tree tunnel.
It's definitely not every day that you encounter something so splendid - unless, of course, you choose to visit the preserve daily (we're not gonna judge).
Come out to the awesome Ambler Flatwoods Nature Preserve and enjoy yourself.
Do the amazing North Loop hike, experience the tree tunnel, and then go wild (pun intended) exploring the rest of the place.
