The Shakespeare Garden was founded in 1915 by The Garden Club of Evanston to honor our British allies in war and memorialize the 300th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

The garden became part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It remains a prized attraction at the University.

The winter and fall months are more baren in the garden. Once the spring rolls around, the whole place comes alive with colorful blooms and vibrant plants and trees.
