With spring in full swing, that can only mean one thing: it's officially waterfall season! During this time of year, waterfalls all around the Gem State are flowing in full-force, and it's a sight that you'll definitely want to take advantage of. Sure, you can head on over to one of the state's most famous falls, such as the mighty Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls or Mesa Falls near Ashton. However, it's somehow much more rewarding to seek out a little-known waterfall such as this one. Just follow this short and quick trail and you'll be treated to a sight that's bound to stick in your memory.
There's nothing better than a beautiful hike that rewards you with a breathtaking view of a roaring waterfall at the end. Located within the Payette National Forest, the Goose Creek Falls trail is a family-friendly hike that you'll definitely want to accomplish this season.
Located near McCall, you'll find the trailhead by taking Idaho 55 to Brundage Mountain Road. The trailhead is located in the corner of the Gordon Titus parking area.
From there, you'll set off onto the well-maintained trail. With a length of just three miles and a mere 685-feet in elevation gain, this hike is manageable for hikers of all ages and skill levels.
The trail is almost entirely shaded on the way to the falls, complete with stunning forest scenery. After around a mile you'll come across a lovely little bridge that crosses Goose Creek.
After the bridge, the trail veers left and you'll follow it straight to the falls. Goose Creek Falls is an absolutely stunning sight to behold. It's especially impressive during springtime, when the falls is roaring with flowing water.
Surrounded by rocky areas and plenty of shade, the falls are a great place to just sit back and relax for a bit before heading back. Listen to the sounds of rushing water and feel the mist on your face. Goose Creek Falls is like a little oasis you'll never want to leave.
