Make it your mission this summer to uncover some new swimming spots. A good place to start is this little-known park in northern Idaho. Located near Post Falls, Black Bay Park is about to become your go-to swimming destination for the summer.
Comprised of 56 acres, Black Bay Park is a true hidden gem boasting all sorts of scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. Located off of E. Third Avenue, the park is easily accessible but still feels delightfully secluded.
Upon arriving at the park, you'll notice that a paved and well-maintained loop trail takes visitors right through the heart of the park. Leading you right along the shoreline, the trail makes it easy to explore everything the park has to offer.
As you traverse the trail, you'll spot several well-loved swimming holes along the bay which feed into the Spokane River. During the height of summer, these spots can be chock full of swimmers and boaters taking advantage of the river's cool water.
The main swimming area can get pretty populated, but you can continue around the bay to find something less crowded if that's what you prefer. One spot even boasts an incredible view of an iconic Post Falls mansion, referred to as "the Amway Home", that was built in the '90s by locals Ron and Georgia Lee Puryear.
There's truly something for everyone at Black Bay Park. Shallow areas of the bay are perfect for little kids and other areas are well-known for their fishing opportunities. If anything, it's a great place to get away and relax in the spectacular scenery of North Idaho.
