The Hike In Hawaii That Takes You To Not One, But TWO Insanely Beautiful Waterfalls

The Pipiwai Trail on Maui offers a scenic hike featuring two impressive waterfalls, Makahiku Falls and Waimoku Falls.

What could possibly make a Hawaiian waterfall hike any better? How about two waterfalls? The Pipiwai Trail on Maui takes you to one of the island's largest waterfalls, and gives you an incredible view of another impressive waterfall, too. The next time you're tempted to Google waterfalls near me, lace up your boots and set out on this wonderful waterfall hike in Hawaii!

The Pipwai Trail is located along the Hana Highway. You'll find the trailhead at the Haleakala Visitor Center.

The hike is two miles, one way. Make sure that you have sturdy footwear before you get started - some sections can be slippery.

The trail starts by taking you through some grasses and guava trees.

The views along the way are spectacular.

After just a half mile, you'll come to an overlook where you'll have a stunning view of the 200-foot Makahiku Falls in the distance.

During this hike, you'll gain about 600 feet in elevation, but it's pretty accessible for most hikers.

Pass through the gate to continue your hike.

A little farther down the path, you'll find the Banyan Tree. This is a great spot to take a quick break (and some more photos).

You'll cross several bridges along the trail.

Check out these pretty cascades. The cascades aren't nearly on the scale of a typical Hawaii waterfall...but you might consider these a bonus third waterfall along the way!

Next, you'll travel through a dense forest of bamboo. This portion of the trail is particularly magical, and the best part is the boardwalk, which keeps you from getting muddy as you pass through.

Finally, you'll emerge through the trees to see Waimoku Falls - a stunning 400-foot waterfall that shimmers down the cliff.

Though it might be tempting to stand under the falls, don't do it. Cascading water isn't the only thing falling from the cliffs above - debris such as branches and rocks falls, too. If you get hit in the head with even a small rock falling from 400 feet above you it could be fatal.

Enjoy the falls and get plenty of photos - this is one of the most impressive waterfalls on the island.
