Step Into The World Of Narnia On This Forbidden Waterfall Hike In Hawaii

Pe’epe’e Falls and the Boiling Pots in Hawaii offer a stunning yet dangerous natural spectacle.

Found along every mile of coastline and in the heart of the islands’ interior, the Hawaiian Islands are known for their infinite number of natural wonders. Perhaps there is no greater wonder than the countless waterfalls found across the beautiful Aloha State – from Hawaii Island’s 442-foot Akaka Falls to Kauai’s Hanakapiai Falls and everywhere in between. And while all of Hawaii’s waterfalls are magical, there is one hidden spot sure to make your jaw drop to the floor and mutter in disbelief about how such a magical landscape even exists. This is what is commonly referred to as Narnia Falls, and trust us, it is absolutely as amazing as it sounds.

Editor's Note: Since the time of publication, Narnia Falls is now on private, restricted watershed property.

On the lush, verdant Hilo coast, you will find countless incredible waterfalls. Some, like Rainbow Falls, are wildly popular, and others, like the nearby Pe’epe’e Falls are lesser-known. And then there are waterfalls like the ones we will be discussing today: hidden, ethereal, and completely not of this world.

Follow a secret path near Hilo past "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" to find Narnia. Or at least what we imagine Narnia would look like if it were a real place.

Here you will find at least four stunning waterfalls cascading down lush, emerald green cliff faces into one striking pool.

Once you reach the waterfalls, you can splash, swim, and even walk behind a few of these stunning waterfalls. Don't forget your GoPro or other waterproof camera!

It doesn't get much more magical than this, wouldn't you agree?

While we can’t tell you exactly where to find this lush oasis, it is located upstream of the popular Rainbow Falls on the Wailuku River and requires hiking and bouldering. For a glimpse of this forbidden adventure, check out this jaw-dropping video by Epic Tours:
