Georgia offers a diverse range of hiking trails, from easy family-friendly paths to challenging mountain treks, showcasing the state's natural beauty.

There are some pretty magical hiking trails in Georgia. It really doesn't even matter what season you go in, you're sure to have a great adventure. Some trails look spectacular during the winter months. Frozen waterfalls glistening under the sunlight is one of the most stupendous sights nature can provide. Other trails shine in the fall. Fall foliage in Georgia is incredible, and some trails seem perfectly designed to show off the beauty of an autumn wonderland. If you're only visiting for a short amount of time, or only have the time and energy to tackle just a handful of hikes in the Peach State, these are the five to choose. They're among the best hikes in Georgia and belong on any hiker's bucket list.

1. The Arkaquah Trail at Brasstown Bald: Young Harris, GA, 30582

The Arkaquah Trail is one of the best hikes in Georgia and in order to tackle it properly, you'll need a pair of hiking boots and a sturdy tent. Making the Arkaquah Trail an overnight hike is a truly special experience.

There's nothing like catching the radiance of a sunset over Brasstown Bald, and the star-filled night sky overhead is incredible. Overnight hikes require extra preparation, but they are truly worth the difficulty.

2. The Beech Bottom Trail: Cohutta Wilderness

This is one of the most stunning and secluded hiking trails in Georgia. It actually spans over the state line into Tennessee, so it belongs on two state bucket lists!

Some people prefer to hike the Beech Bottom Trail during the summer to get a swim at Jack's River. We actually prefer this trail in the fall months, when you'll get an amazing view of the beautiful fall foliage in Georgia.

3. East Palisades Trail: 1425 Indian Trail NW, Sandy Springs, GA, 30327

The East Palisades Trail is one of the most unique hiking trails in Georgia and it's certainly one for the books. The hike can be appreciated in any season, and reaching the hidden bamboo forest will make you feel like you've stepped into a different world.

This neat trail is not far from Atlanta, making it a great opportunity for city dwellers to experience nature!

4. Cannon’s Point Plantation Ruins: 560 Cannon's Point Rd, St. Simons Island, GA, 31522

This is a one of a kind primitive space boasting tons of natural beauty. Cannon's Point Preserve's trails are truly unlike any other trail in Georgia. Not only do you get to experience the quiet solitude of being in nature, but you also can reach the abandoned ancient ruins. Some of these date all the way back to 2500 BCE!

This is such a fascinating place and one of our favorite hidden gems in Georgia.

5. The Waterfalls Trail at Cloudland Canyon State Park: 122 Cloudland Canyon Park Rd., Rising Fawn, GA, 30738

Wintertime hiking in Georgia is definitely not as popular as the warmer months. The cold, snow, and ice can certainly lead to a lack of will to trudge through any sort of treks. However, once you see winter photos from the Waterfalls Trail in Cloudland Canyon State Park, you just may change your mind. This is a winter wonderland that's certainly worth exploring.

The hiking here is gorgeous at any time of year, but seeing the frozen waterfalls is utterly magical.
