The One Pristine Inland Beach In Georgia That Will Make You Swear You’re On The Coast

Georgia has miles and miles of ocean coast, but for those of us living farther inland, it's not always possible to get there. The Peach State is huge, and driving to one of our barrier islands can take a long time if you live farther north or west. Fortunately, there are lots of inland beaches in Georgia that can provide just as much fun as a trip to the coast. One of our favorites is the beach in Carrollton, GA, at John Tanner Park, also known as Carroll County Park. It's such a perfect place for a summer weekend of family fun.

Carrollton's up in northwest Georgia, and to reach the ocean shore, it would take more than 4.5 hours of driving. Thankfully, we've got a great sandy beach at John Tanner Park.

This 138-acre park was once a Georgia state park, but now it's operated by Carroll County. There are two lakes here, providing lots of opportunities for fun on the water.

Going out on the water is a favorite summer past time for many Georgians. The park rents out both Jon boats and pedal boats, giving you multiple options for fun in the lake.

Of course, you can always just splash at the shoreline, too.

If you're not a fan of dipping your toes in the lake, there's a great nature trail to explore here, too.

The paved trail around the loop is only about 1.5 miles and provides beautiful views.

John Tanner Park is the best park in Carrollton, GA and such a wonderful summer day trip for those of us in the northern half of the state!
