Have you ever heard of inclusive playgrounds? These playgrounds are popping up all over the country, and they ensure that everyone has access to outdoor fun. They're designed to be used by kids of all abilities, so children that use wheelchairs or have sensory processing disorders are able to play alongside everyone else. This is such a great innovation, and we're so lucky to have several inclusive playgrounds in Georgia. A couple of the very best playgrounds in the Peach State just so happen to also be at one of the state's best parks: Piedmont Park in Atlanta. It's one of our favorite places for a jog or picnic in Georgia, but it's also a great spot to just get out of the house. You'll find both the Naguchi Playscape and the Mayor's Grove Playground here, and each has their own unique traits that make them among the best playgrounds in Atlanta. Check them out:
Piedmont Park is one of the largest parks in Atlanta, with nearly 200 acres to explore. There's a ton to do here, with a fishing lake, tennis courts, softball fields, walking paths, dog parks, and more.
If you've got little ones at home, you know one of the most important attributes of any park is the playground. Fortunately, there are two great playgrounds at Piedmont Park.
Mayor's Grove Playground is tucked away in the shade underneath towering trees. It's been specially designed to be accessible for all kids.
The ramps and structures here are wheelchair and stroller-friendly.
There are also a variety of sensory features here that are great for kids with processing disorders like autism.
Mayor's Grove is a great opportunity for kids to play together, regardless of their abilities.
The second playground at Piedmont Park is equally special. The Noguchi Playscape was designed by Isamu Noguchi, a famous artist and sculptor. This is actually the only playground he created during his lifetime.
This is such a cool-looking playground, with a variety of shapes and textures.
I don't know about you, but even I want to climb up this fun tower!
The dual-level slide is always a hit with kids of all ages.
What a fun outing that everyone in the family can enjoy! For more information about the playgrounds or other attractions here, check out the Piedmont Park Conservancy website.
