In Georgia, most people usually flock to one of the bigger lakes when summer rolls around, like Lake Lanier, for example. But we have a hidden gem lake in Georgia that should be your next go-to. Bordering North Carolina, this one-of-a-kind lake is a must for your summer bucket list.
Lake Chatuge is one of the prettiest, secluded lakes in the state of Georgia.
Run by the Tennessee Valley Authority, Lake Chatuge extends all the way down from North Carolina into Hiawassee, Georgia.
The town of Hiawassee is special in its own right, but once you see Lake Chatuge, you’ll be excited that you found your new favorite summer destination.
Surrounded by mountains, Lake Chatuge is nestled in a valley, which means you'll find impeccable views in every direction.
Imagine a lake, high in the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery at every turn.
Prepare yourself for waterskiing, swimming, boating and so much more at this hidden gem.
You can even rent cabins surrounding the lake if you want to make a getaway out of the visit and wake up to views like this.
While the lake remains relatively shallow — only about 30-feet deep, it still makes for a great place to spend the afternoon, enjoying the summer weather.
If you do decide to spend the weekend, make sure to enjoy the sunsets, campfires, and lakeside camping opportunities, too.
