Helton Creek Falls is a stunning waterfall near Vogel State Park that is a fan-favorite for the kiddos.

Located just north of Helen, Georgia, Helton Creek Falls is a short, easy-access trail, clocking in at about 0.4 miles roundtrip.

The kids will love this easy out-and-back hike because of the short distance, despite there being some changes in grade to keep an eye out for.

However, once you get to the waterfall and swimming hole at the end of the jaunt, it’ll be an entirely different experience.

There are two waterfalls that you’ll come across along this hike — the lower falls and the upper falls.

It’s not uncommon to find people wading through the cascades of the upper falls, or taking a refreshing dip from the scorching sun.

Just make sure to be careful in and around the waterfall — the rocks tend to be slick and it is important to use extreme caution when exploring the area.

The trail is moderately-trafficked and used commonly for hiking, walking, birding, and nature trips — or just simply needing a break for the afternoon.
