Here in Georgia, we cherish the art of adventure. From the mountains to the coast, the Georgian landscape seems tailor-made for the great outdoors. If it's a serene, picturesque outing you're after, there's a system of waterways in Columbia County that belongs at the top of your bucket list. The aptly-named Serene18 is a network of water trails encompassing eighteen square miles of paddle-ready adventure. From breathtaking water views to unique wildlife, this experience promises beauty at every turn. And the best part of all? This adventure can be enjoyed by all skill levels, whether you're a novice or a pro.
Attention, all nature enthusiasts! Serene18 Paddle Trail is the perfect way to experience some of Georgia's best waterways.
To participate, visitors can order a free passport that outlines 4 unique water trails: Augusta Canal, Betty's Branch, Stallings Island, and Clarks Hill Lake.

Conveniently, all four of these destinations are within a few miles of each other.
After you've completed one of the paddle trails, you can get your passport stamped by a designated vendor.
You can receive your passport stamps at Keg Creek Water Sports at Wildwood Park, Cole Watkins Kayak Tours, Outdoor Augusta at Riverside Park,
Savannah Rapids Kayak Rental, or the Savannah Rapids Regional Visitor Information Center. These are all great places to learn more about the routes and rent kayaks and gear for your adventure.
When you complete all four trails, bring your stamped passport to the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau office where you'll receive your free commemorative t-shirt.
How cool is that?
At 7 miles long, Augusta Canal is the longest of the four routes. It can be completed by all skill levels and will take roughly 2.5 hours to complete.
Please note that for this route, you'll want to plan ahead of time so you can have transportation back to the starting point.
Betty's Branch is another great starting point for beginners. This beautiful stretch of the Savannah River is renowned for its breathtaking flora and fauna. Plan to set aside about 2 hours to complete this 4-mile route.
Stallings Island, rated as intermediate, is famous for its abundance of donkeys and goats. The 2.7-mile loop takes about two hours to finish.
Stallings Island also happens to be the site where the oldest known Native American pottery was discovered. Please note this area is protected and kayakers must remain in their watercrafts.
Last, but certainly not least, the Clarks Hill Lake trail takes paddlers from Wildwood Park to Clarks Hill Dam, an impressive feat of engineering.
This route spans 6 miles and can take between 4 and 6 hours and is appropriate for novice to intermediate skill levels.
