Experts Predict That The Tick Population In Florida Will Be About Average This Year

When the seasonal weather forecasts predict a wet, lingering summer, then expect the tick season to be much longer and more worrisome. This year, Pests.org released its predictions for tick seasons across the United States.

Using weather information forecasts from the National Weather Service, National Pest Management, and CDC to name a few, predictions for the spring and summer in terms of weather can usually predict the type of tick season we’ll have.

Since ticks thrive in more humid, hot areas, when a particular state is experiencing a humid, hotter-than-normal season, this means that ticks will be out and about in abundance.

However, weather predictions in Florida for 2020 are expected to be about average in terms of humidity and precipitation, which means the tick season will be about normal.

While this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t care or worry about ticks, it just means that the predictions are expecting an average season.

Tick season for the southeast begins in April and ends in late October.

When you go outside this spring and summer, make sure to wear socks if you can, and tuck those socks into your jeans when possible.

Also, make sure to check yourself, your kids, and your pets for ticks every day.
