The Next Lunar Eclipse Will Be Visible From Florida And You Won’t Want To Miss Out

Florida offers a variety of unique natural wonders beyond its famous beaches and theme parks, including caves, waterfalls, and rock formations.

Get ready to witness celestial greatness in just a week's time. This isn't just any ol' total lunar eclipse though, Floridians. This is a Super Wolf Blood Moon, and no we don't mean a chapter out of the Twilight-novel series. Combining a supermoon with a blood moon and a wolf moon, you'll be privy to one of the best natural events of 2019. And those in Florida can grab a front row seat.

On January 21st, 2019, for the first time in three years, United States will have a front row seat to a total lunar eclipse.

At around 12:12 a.m. EST, people in North America will be able to witness this event in all its glory.

According to NASA, this is a three-for-one spectacular where the first full moon of the year (wolf moon) will be at its closest point to Earth (supermoon) and will be a deep shade of red thanks to the sunlight passing through the Earth’s atmosphere (blood moon).

For Floridians, the partial eclipse will begin around 12:33 a.m. on Monday, January 21st—which is where the moon will begin to get red.

The total eclipse will start at around 1:41 a.m. with a completely red moon but within an hour the total lunar eclipse will end.

However, before you write this off in order to stay comfy in bed, you should know that the next event of this caliber is not expected for another 2-3 years.

While you can watch a livestream of the eclipse online, it may not have the same effect as if you were watching it in person.

A few spots where you can catch a great show in Florida with very little light pollution includes Emil Buehler Planetarium at Seminole State College in Sanford, St. George Island, Chiefland Astronomy Village, the Everglades, and Big Pine Key to name a few.

So grab your thermos of coffee, a few blankets, and maybe even a pair of binoculars…

…because this is one natural show that you do not want to miss out on.
