While Florida might not be renowned for its hiking opportunities, there are still plenty of places where hikers can go and get in some quality trail-time. Heck, there are even hidden hiking trails in Florida just waiting to be discovered. But we have one particular place that will make for the perfect day off spent entirely outdoors. A little bit of trail, a little bit of wildlfe, and a whole lot of secluded beach action. Take a look.
Lovers Key State Park in Fort Meyers, Florida has over 5 miles of trails winding through sand, grass, and swampy marshland.
For many, many years this amazing state park was only accessible by boat.
Which means that the beaches were so isolated, lovers made the effort to seek it out for a little bit of privacy.
Today, while Lovers Key State Park is a bit more accessible to all, there is still that secluded feel to it, especially when you hit the beaches.
But while there are many different wonderful sights to see and wildlife to spot from the beaches...
...there is an equal amount of beauty from the trails!
When you hike through Lovers Key State Park, you'll come across a unique side of Florida that many do not get to see.
Dolphins swimming through the channels, birds diving nearby to catch their prey...
...and even a friendly manatee or two just playing in the estuary.
But once you make it to the shore after a long hike, you'll be greeted by a whole new series of sights and sounds.
You never know what types of sea creatures are coming up to relax on the secluded beach...
...or call this powdery white sandy shores home.
For those who want to combine a bit of hiking action with some relaxation afterwards, add Lovers Key State Park to the list.
