In True Halloween Fashion, Florida Is Getting Another Full Moon This October

Florida will experience a rare second full moon on Halloween, making the night spookier.

It’s only right that this October, we’re not getting one full moon in Florida, but two! As if 2020 hasn’t been strange enough, we’re getting a second full moon this month and it’s going to be a special one. Get ready for all of the Halloween vibes when October 31st rolls around and a second full moon lights up the skies in the Sunshine State.

Guess what, Floridians?! Halloween just got a whole lot spookier with the second full moon of the month making an appearance.

You will likely remember that back on October 1st the stunning Harvest Moon illuminated the skies…

…but on October 31st, a second full moon will appear, making Halloween just a bit scarier than usual.

Just how rare is a full moon on Halloween, you ask? According to the Farmer’s Almanac, a full moon on Halloween only happens every 18 to 19 years!

Since it’s such a rare occurrence, you’ll want to make sure you step outside and really enjoy the celestial show.

The full moon on Halloween is called a Hunter’s Blue Moon, not because it’s going to be blue in color but because it’s the second full moon in a single calendar month.

So make sure while you’re out trick-or-treating this year, or celebrating Halloween dolling out candy, you look up and appreciate the second full moon of the month of October.

So, what do you think about this second full moon in Florida? Did you happen to catch the Harvest Moon on October 1st? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section! Or, you can also send along photos if you took any. Meanwhile, if you want to keep the spooky theme going this month, make sure to check out the haunted tunnel attraction in Orlando.
