Visit The Oldest Beach In Delaware For A Day Of Timeless Fun
Rehoboth Beach in Delaware is a charming, historic beach town known for its award-winning boardwalk, family-friendly activities, and vibrant dining scene.
Delaware's pristine beaches are truly remarkable, especially in the summertime. And while each one has its own distinctive character, there's something particularly charming about the coastal community of Rehoboth Beach. Not only is it the oldest beach town in the state, but it's a truly delightful place to spend a day.
Rehoboth Beach is located in Sussex County, and the town itself dates all the way back to 1873.
It was founded as the Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association as a site for Methodist camp meetings, which disbanded in 1881. In 1893, it was renamed Rehoboth Beach.
Rehoboth Beach is known for its award-winning boardwalk, specialty stores, amusement games, and fantastic restaurants.
You'll also find beautiful homes and some desirable hotels in the area.
Walking along the mile-long boardwalk will take you back in time.
It's full of old-fashioned family-friendly fun and food, like Funland and Thrasher's Fries. The boardwalk is a year-round place for festivals and events, some of which have been happening for decades.
It's really no wonder that this place is known as the Nation’s Summer Capital.
The 30 miles of unspoiled coastline and pristine beach is especially fantastic when the weather is warm, and East Coast families have been vacationing here for generations.
Rehoboth Beach is a sophisticated place, but it isn't stuffy.
Head to the iconic Blue Moon and you'll see what we mean. Housed in a beautifully restored Victorian beach home, it offers a fine dining experience with a little flair. Aside from the tasty Maryland Scallops and Filet Mignon, you can enjoy entertainment ranging from karaoke nights to lively drag shows.
And if you imbibe, Revelation Craft Brewery is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.
Cold beer and warm sunshine make a perfect pairing, and it's even better when it's locally brewed.
Of course, no one would blame you if you spend the majority of your time relaxing by the ocean.
Delaware's beaches are some of the best in the nation, and this one is no exception.
