This Lakeside Park In Delaware Is So Hidden You’ll Probably Have It All To Yourself

Lake Gerar in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, offers a peaceful and less crowded nature escape with walking paths and scenic views.

We know that the First State is small, but that doesn't mean there aren't hidden gems in Delaware... they're practically hiding around every corner! Even our most-visited town has quite a few secrets up its sleeve. You might think all the parks at Rehoboth Beach are crowded with people since it's such a popular tourist destination. But if you've never visited the park at Lake Gerar, you're truly in for a treat! Just keep it on the down low so that we can all have this private oasis for years to come.

Lake Gerar is a tiny lake that's tucked in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Rehoboth Bay. Rehoboth Beach is a busy town, but this is one spot that isn't frequented by tourists.

Surrounding the lake, you'll find walking paths through preserved nature. This is a beautiful escape, a green space oasis in an otherwise busy, bustling town.

In fact, it's not unusual to find yourself the only person enjoying this lakeside park in Delaware! The paths and picnic tables are often deserted, as most visitors opt for the more popular spots in town.

We are so lucky to live somewhere with four distinct seasons. Visiting during the busy summer months will give you a respite from the chaos that is a beach town during tourist season.

Come autumn, Lake Gerar is the perfect place for a stroll and a breath of fresh air. The fall foliage in Delaware is beautiful and this is one of our favorite places to observe the changing colors.

Visiting in the winter is pleasant, too, though. Relaxing by the frozen water and having the place totally to yourself is a magical experience.

Visiting Lake Gerar with your kids? Have them track down the fairy tree!

Maybe you don't have the park completely to yourself... legend has it that there are a few fairies who take up residence here by the water. After all, you can't beat that waterfront view!

You'll find Lake Gerar just behind the Henlopen Hotel, on the aptly-named Lake Drive.

This is one spot you'll definitely want to keep in mind during the tourist season. There's no reason to be swarmed with people when you can enjoy beautiful weather in a quiet little lakeside park in Delaware!
