However, while we're all cooped up inside, it's important to find things to look forward to for when we're past this outbreak and free to once again explore the First State! Blackbird State Forest offers miles of well maintained - and typically empty - trails that wind through upland forest near Clayton, Delaware.

You can walk for hours here and you won't see another soul! This is truly one of Delaware's most underappreciated natural wonders, and we're lucky that it has been so well preserved.

The Tybout Track trail is a two-mile loop that's perfect for a shady stroll, and it connects to the other trails in the forest. You can spend hours here if you have a great sense of adventure.

Kayakers also love Blackbird State Forest, because Blackbird Pond and Blackbird Creek are remote, relaxing paddling spots. Drop in and check them out.

Blackbird State Forest is home to one of the most remote campgrounds in Delaware. These tent-only sites are as primitive as can be.

Hike in with your gear and set up a site for a remote overnight stay. Cook your dinner on the fire ring and enjoy a night out in nature.
