Southford Falls in Connecticut Will Soon Be Surrounded by Beautiful Fall Colors

Southford Falls State Park in Connecticut offers stunning fall foliage and scenic views, making it a perfect autumn day trip destination.

Some say fall is the most wonderful time of the year, and we can't help but agree. I personally love fall, and nothing can top fall in New England. Connecticut in the fall means day trips to pumpkin patches, eating delicious apple cider donuts, and - of course - leaf-peeping. While there's no shortage of amazing places to see fall colors in Connecticut, we're absolutely in love with the views at Southford Falls in Connecticut. Soon, this rushing cascade will be surrounded by beautiful fall colors, and you won't want to miss it. Leaf peepers, our time is coming!

Nestled in the gorgeous town of Southbury, Southford Falls State Park really comes alive during the fall.

This 169-acre natural area was established as a state park in 1932, and it's been dazzling visitors ever since. It may be one of the smaller state parks in Connecticut, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in scenery. Since the park is on the smaller side, you can easily explore it in a day.

When you arrive, venture to the northwest end of the park and gaze into the impeccable beauty of Southford Falls, the park's main attraction.

The Southford Falls Inner Red Trail is one of three trails in the park. It's just shy of a mile, and leads you through the park's stunning landscape. Listen to rushing cascades pour into the Eight Mile River, and relax by the peaceful fall views.

Of course, this isn't the only place you can enjoy fall foliage. Explore the nearby boardwalk trail and listen to crisp leaves crunch under your feet. Pair that with the crisp fall air and that's honestly my happy place.

Along your hike, you'll see several babbling brooks and rippling creeks. It adds a nice soundtrack to the adventure! There's even a little covered bridge at Southford Falls State Park, which makes for a nice photo spot! New England + covered bridges + fall foliage = Solid gold. You just don't get any better than that!

For a magnificent autumn day trip, head to Southford Falls State Park. Don't rush through this scenic journey. These classic autumn views are worth slowing down for. Connecticut's peak fall foliage happens so fast, it always feels like it's gone before you know it.
