Summer is coming in fast; are you ready for it? We've got a lot of great places to enjoy the warm weather in Connecticut. Maybe you enjoy chasing waterfalls? Or do you prefer the chaotic fun of a water park? One spot that we think is just perfect for kicking off summer in the Nutmeg State is Stratton Brook State Park. This place may not get as much attention as some of the more popular parks in the state, but it's certainly got plenty of attractions. With its lovely little beach, it's the perfect place to start your summer celebrations!
Stratton Brook State Park is a 145-acre park that was established in 1949. It may be smaller than many of the other state parks in Connecticut, but there's a lot to do here!
This picturesque covered bridge looks like it belongs right on a postcard.
Settle down nearby for a picnic. If you like to fish, this is a great spot to cast your line!
The water offers plenty of opportunities for dipping your toes in (or taking a full swim!).
There are plenty of more shallow areas for the little ones.
This was the first state park in Connecticut to be completely accessible for wheelchairs.
There are miles of wooded trails, some of which have been converted over from a rail line that used to run through the area.
Rail trails tend to be flatter and less rocky than traditional hiking paths.
The views here are magnificent!
Of course, if you don't feel like lacing up your hiking boots, the beach makes for a perfect spot to lie down and relax in the sun. There's no better way to welcome in summer!
