Colorado Has A Grand Canyon, Rattlesnake Canyon And It’s Incredibly Beautiful
Rattlesnake Canyon in Colorado offers stunning scenery and the second-highest concentration of natural arches in the U.S.
There seems to be a common misconception by many (including the United States Postal Service) that the majestic Grand Canyon resides right here in Colorado... sadly, this is not the case (although, we would have gladly taken it.) Despite not having one of the most magnificent canyons within our state lines, we still have quite a few beautiful places to check out. Colorado is home to dozens of stunning canyons of its own, including the jaw-dropping Rattlesnake Canyon near Fruita. Just consider Rattlesnake Canyon in Colorado to be the state's very own Grand Canyon, and one visit to this spectacular scenery will make you fall in love with Colorado all over again.
Located within the gorgeous Black Ridge Canyons Wilderness, Rattlesnake Canyon features not only dramatic ravines and desert-like landscape, but the country's second-highest concentration of natural arches (the first being Arches National Park in Utah). When you visit, be sure to look for all nine of these memorable structures, which include the amazing Rainbow (which spans a whopping 76 feet), Bridge (spanning 40 feet), and Centennial (also 40 feet) Arches. Visitors may reach Rattlesnake Canyon via dirt (which is recommended for either hiking or driving with a high clearance vehicle with 4-wheel drive) or area access roads. Make sure to also check out all the various hiking opportunities within the area in order to make the most of your Rattlesnake Canyon experience.
