Enjoy A Secluded Stroll On A Little-Known Trail In Comanche National Grassland
How does a quiet hike upon which you probably won't see anyone else sound? Great? There are few places in Colorado where this is the case due to our highly active population, many of whom are hitting the trails every day, or at least every weekend. However, you can get a quiet and secluded hike if you head out to the plains, and one excellent trail on the plains that you should check out is the Picture Canyon Trail in the Comanche National Grassland.
Comanche National Grassland is in southeastern Colorado near the border of Oklahoma. It covers over 433,000 acres and is a quiet and beautiful place.
The Picture Canyon Trail is a 2 mile, out and back trail with only 95 feet of elevation gain along the way, so it's quite an easy trail to undertake.
It'll only take you about 40 minutes to complete this hike, but you'll see lots of cool sights and views along the way.
You'll be amazed at how quiet and serene the prairie is.
You'll get to check out some rock cool rock formations.
Some are even cooler like nearby Arch Rock.
There are also some pictographs on the rocks - you can find these by going off some of the smaller side trails along the way - that will amaze you.
Check out this beautiful one of a horse.
This trail is open year round and is lovely at any time of the year.
You can bring your dog, but you'll have to keep him or her on a leash.
This trail is beautiful, interesting, easy, and quiet. It's very worthwhile. So many people only hike in the Colorado mountains, but there's so much beauty on the plains, too!
You're going to love this trail and your quiet time walking along it. The Comanche National Grassland is a very special part of Colorado that few people visit!
