One of the best things about spring is the vibrant colors of tulips and daffodils blooming everywhere. Every April, Cincinnati Zoo is filled with color as more than 100,000 tulips bloom all throughout the grounds alongside daffodils, hyacinths and flowering shrubs. When you visit the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden during April, brightly-colored tulips are the first thing you see when you walk through the gates.
From April 1st through 30th, the grounds are covered with more than 100,000 tulips as a part of the Ohio tulip festival.
As you walk through the zoo, you'll see tulips everywhere! From the Elephant House...
...to the Zoo Shop...
...to the Reptile House. The beautiful, blooming tulips are everywhere!
A stroll through the zoo is even better in April, as you enjoy the bright displays of colorful tulips in Ohio.
"Tulip Mania" is among the largest tulip displays in the entire Midwest.
People travel from all over to check out the tulips here, and we're lucky enough to have them right in our own backyard.
Many varieties of tulips are represented in these gardens.
You'll see Pink Impression, Ivory Floradale, Ollioules, Negrita, and Banja Luka tulips, just to name a few.
There are signs to help you identify the different types of tulips and other flowering plants.
You'll see quite a few Banja Luka tulips here. These colorful blooms have dark yellow petals streaked with a vibrant red color. They're quite distinctive.
Tulips aren't the only spring flowers you'll see this April.
The flower beds throughout the grounds are also filled with daffodils, hyacinths, flowering shrubs and tons of other bulbs - over one million flowers in all!
All these rich, beautiful hues make the perfect background for a zoo pic.

You definitely don't want to miss out on Tunes & Blooms, the free music concerts offered every Thursday in April.
Catch a concert every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission to the zoo is FREE after 5 p.m. on those Thursdays!
During April, The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
