It's amazing how different things appear after the change in seasons. This Western New York park is no exception! Read on to see why you haven't lived until you've experienced this Buffalo area park in the wintertime!
Chestnut Ridge Park is located at 6121 Chestnut Ridge Road in Orchard Park.
The park itself is open daily from 7 a.m. until dusk. While Chestnut Ridge is charming any time of year, it truly comes alive under a freshly fallen layer of snow!
First things first: SLEDDING!
If you hop on a sled and don't feel like a kid again, you're doing it wrong. Chestnut Ridge is one of the best places to go sledding in Western New York. The hills at the park are family-friendly while still being tons of fun for the grownups!
If you're daring, head to the toboggan chutes.
The toboggan chutes at Chestnut Ridge are a must-do in the winter months. Bundle up and go for a wild ride!
Told you this place was fun!
Seriously... if you haven't experienced these activities firsthand, you need to make a point to get here this year! Along with sledding, Chestnut Ridge also offers snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and even a few designated snowmobile trails!
If you bundle up for the elements, you can also hike to an amazing natural wonder.
The Eternal Flame at Chestnut Ridge Park is one of the coolest natural wonders around, and it's even more magical in the winter! Be sure to read up on your hike before you set out on the trails — the weather can make the trek a bit treacherous from time to time.
Plan a day to play!
If you're looking for a place for good old fashioned family fun in the snow, Chestnut Ridge should definitely top your list. The kids will love having so much space to explore, and you'll love the photo opportunities that surround you at this beautiful park.
Before you leave, be sure to thaw out inside the shelters.
Head to the Commissioner's Cabin for hot concessions and to warm yourself by the fireplace. After a long day of activities at Chestnut Ridge Park, you'll be ready to head home happy. Just don't be surprised if you find yourself counting down the days until you can return!
