An Easy But Gorgeous Hike, Kings River Falls Trail Leads To A Little-Known River In Arkansas

Kings River Falls Trail in East Madison County, Arkansas, offers a scenic and accessible hike to a beautiful waterfall.

East Madison County, Arkansas, is home to the Kings River Falls Natural Area, a 1,059-acre gem of nature. It features the Kings River Falls Trail—our focus of the day—which leads to the scenic six-foot Kings River Falls.

Our trail begins to the left of where the Kings River Falls Natural Area sign is anchored into the earth.

It’s a two-mile round trip in a rugged mountain region bordered by pine-hardwood forests.

A few steps in, and you’ll notice a creek to your right.

The trail navigates to the Kings River, turns to the left, and continues along the river to a footbridge.

Since the terrain is leveled and wide, the Kings River Trail is ideal for all skill types.

You should have no problem moving along nicely with your loved ones, however, your furry friend must be kept on a leash.

Remember to savor the scenery.

Diverse shrubs and flowers color the air with pinks, greens, and yellows. The river itself is popular for recreational fishing and paddling, so, depending on the season, you should see people enjoying the water.

About a mile into your hike, the ultimate reward for your diligence, masquerading as a storybook waterfall, would come into view.

The Kings River Fall is truly a sight to behold, you can spend some time here immersing yourself in nature before heading back.

But if you want more, there are tons to see.

You can follow a creek upstream from the falls that host a series of smaller waterfalls on an easy-to-follow trail. There's also a trail that leads to the river, where you can get an aerial view from the bluffs.
