1. Hot Springs Mountain Trail, Hot Springs

At 3 miles long, this loop trail in Hot Springs National Park will take about 90 minutes to complete. Begin the trail at the Gulpha Gorge Campground, and from there, expect some elevation gain that level out within the first mile. If you're a rookie hiker, have no worries, this trail is well worth the trek as it leads to one of the best lookout towers and overlooks in Arkansas. You'll want to spend some time marveling at all the breathtaking beauty.

2. Round Top Mountain Trail, Jasper

Tucked inside the Ozarks in the town of Jasper you'll find Round Top Mountain trailhead. This 3.5-mile loop trail follows the bluff line of the mountain and is considered moderate with an elevation gain of 500 feet. Nature lovers will be delighted by the panoramic vistas of the area as well as the stunning rock formations. History buffs will be interested in the remains of a Bomber plane that crashed in the mountain in 1948. In my opinion, this scenic and historical hike belongs on your bucket list.

3. White Rock Rim Trail, Winslow

As one of the most scenic trails in Arkansas, White Rock Rim Trail features lots of spots to pause and marvel at the views. At only 2.1-miles, this trail is brimming with endless adventure. Featuring a scenic overlook, stream crossings, large boulders, rock outcroppings, and more, you'll be basking in all that the Ozarks has to offer. This easy trail is both dog and kid friendly, so bring the entire family along.

4. Bear Cave Trail, Morrilton

There's no doubt that Petit Jean is one of the best state parks in Arkansas, so it's no surprise that it has one of the best hiking trails in the state. The Bear Cave Trail is a 1-mile out-and-back that features massive sandstone boulders. Be prepared to spend your time looking up and marveling at the incredible formations. As the name suggests, expect to see a cool cave on this mountain hike. Moreover, the mind-blowing rock formations create a series of above ground passageways that are a sight to behold.

5. Forked Mountain Falls Trail, Casa

Of course, no mountain hike in Arkansas would be complete without a waterfall and Forked Mountain Falls doesn’t' disappoint. Featuring two hiking trails: the first takes you up the unique mountain to enjoy the panoramic vistas and the second traverses at the base of the mountain revealing some cool waterfalls. We suggest that you hike both trails, but no matter which trail you select, the rewards will be well worth the trek.
