Leatherwood Wilderness Area is the largest wilderness area in the Ozarks and perhaps one of the most scenic spots in Arkansas.

It is there you’ll find Four Falls Trail, a 4-mile loop trail that is packed with lots of adventure and perfect for waterfall chasers.

As the name indicates, there are 4 waterfalls to chase on this trail: Crosscut Falls, China Falls, Cougar Falls, and Little Glory Hole Falls.

The trail is considered moderate due to the rugged terrain and can be slippery in some spots.

However, if you’re an avid hiker, you’ll be able to complete this hike with ease. Bring the pup along for this Ozark adventure.

As you trek, you’ll witness the best of the Ozarks including rock formations, flowing creeks, lush greenery, rock outcroppings, towering bluffs, and more.

Of course, with most waterfalls, you’ll want to visit a day or two after a good rain shower to guarantee maximum flow as shown below with Crosscut Falls.

This 53-foot waterfall is the prettiest of the 4 cascades on this trail, so you’ll want to spend some time admiring it in all its glory.

At 77 feet high, Cougar Falls is the tallest waterfall, and after a good rain, it’s truly a sight to behold.

China Falls is a 68-foot cascade that can be admired from several vantage points.

If you’re an experienced hiker, chances are, you’ll want to trek to the base of the falls for the ultimate adventure.

The Little Glory Hole might be the smallest waterfall on the trail, but it’s certainly the most interesting.

The water flows through a hole atop a rock outcropping and plunges 18 feet down. If you’ve hiked to the Glory Hole Waterfall, you’ll understand how this tiny cascade got its name.

Between the waterfalls as well as the scenic vistas, we recommend adding Four Falls Trail to your bucket list.

With so many incredible cascades in such a short distance, this trail is arguably the waterfall capital of Arkansas.
