The Most-Photographed Valley In The Country Is Right Here On The Arizona-Utah Border

Monument Valley, located on Navajo land straddling Arizona and Utah, is renowned for its stunning rock formations and panoramic vistas.

Arizona has no shortage of picture-perfect natural wonders, but one, in particular, doesn't get nearly enough recognition. Straddling the border with Utah, Monument Valley is among the most photographed places on Earth—and it's easy to understand why.

Located on sacred Navajo land, Monument Valley Park is an ancient lowland basin with stunning rock formations that are 50 million years in the making.

Stretching northward into Utah, this incredible place is the most photographed valley in Arizona.

The park sits on nearly 92,000 acres and is more than 5,000 feet above sea level.

Three sandstone bluffs tower at heights of up to 1,000 feet, commanding the rugged desert terrain.

From the Visitor Center, tourists can enjoy unparalleled views of the entire valley.

Sweeping panoramic vistas extend far as the eye can see, and you'll definitely want to pull out your camera.

You can also take a narrated Jeep tour leading down into the valley.

This is the only way to access certain iconic landmarks and learn all about the area from a Navajo guide.

One of Monument Valley's best attributes is that its beauty does not diminish as the seasons change.

Whether covered with snow or blanketed in a fiery summer sunset, there's never a bad time to visit.

During the summer, you can dine at the Haskenneini Restaurant, which boasts a combination of Navajo and American dishes.

Large picture windows showcase striking views of the valley that promise to make your dining experience one for the books.

If you prefer staying in the car, Kayenta-Monument Valley Scenic Road is a 26-mile route that leads straight through the park.

You'll be hard-pressed to find better windshield views anywhere else in Arizona.

Please note: Monument Valley Park is currently closed to visitors, but keep it in mind for future travels! Visit the official website or Facebook page to learn more.
