We Bet You Didn’t Know There Was A Miniature Niagara Falls In Arizona

If you love discovering hidden waterfalls in Arizona, add Fifty Foot Falls to your bucket list. Located along the famed Havasu Falls Trail, one of the best hikes near the Grand Canyon, this breathtaking natural wonder is like a miniature Niagara Falls right here in Arizona.

While Havasu Falls is the most famous waterfall on the Havasupai Indian Reservation, there are actually four other waterfalls along the trail. Fifty Foot Falls is the first one hikers encounter - if they know where to look, that is.

Located just a little way beyond the main trailhead between the Havasupai Lodge and Havasupai Campground, this somewhat little-known natural wonder takes a bit of maneuvering to access.

The path to Fifty Foot Falls isn't well-marked, so you'll have to rely on your ears and let the sound of the rushing water guide you. When you come to a bifurcation in the trail, take the westernmost fork - the path leading to Havasu Falls runs more northeast.

After making your way through some tall grass and climbing down a bit (nothing too strenuous), the falls in all their glory will unfold before your eyes. Their sheer beauty, combined with the fact that you may not encounter a single other human being, makes this a totally bucket-list-worthy spot.

Don't you think Fifty Foot Falls bears a slight resemblance to Niagara Falls? Although not as tall as the eponymous cascade shared by New York and Canada, this hidden waterfall has a similar structure - a meandering creek (or river, in the case of Niagara Falls) leading to a dramatic overhang waterfall.

What's even better, since Fifty Foot Falls is the first waterfall on the Havasu Falls Trail, it's also the easiest to access. You'll still have to embark on the nearly 10-mile hike up the creek into Supai, but it sure beats trekking all the way to Mooney Falls (unless, of course, you're up for the challenge).
