Badger Springs Wash Trail offers a serene, family-friendly hike with scenic water features at Agua Fria National Monument.
Both for scenery and cooling off, hikes are always more fun when water is involved. Badger Springs Wash Trail parallels a series of babbling brooks, and it's perfect for a little adventure.
Badger Springs Wash Trail is a 1.5-mile hike at Agua Fria National Monument near Cordes Junction. At just 1.5 miles and only 101 feet of elevation, it's an easy, short-and-sweet hike perfect for the whole family.
Much of the path is rocky, with pockets of sand interspersed throughout. There is some boulder scrambling and creek wading involved along the way, so bringing a change of footwear is encouraged.
The trail parallels a stream for most of its duration, surrounded by lush greenery that rustles to and fro in the gentle breeze.
Although temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix, that isn't saying much in the heat of summer. Cool off in the pristine water for a spell before heading back the way you came.
Tiny waterfall cascades peacefully trickle down a series of rocks, encouraging hikers to slow down and revel in the tranquility. Close your eyes, clear your head, and ascend into a state of inner peace.
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more serene hike in the area. A babbling brook ambles along, with no sound save for the rhythmic water flow -- what more could one ask for?
If your hike happens to coincide with monsoon season, keep a close eye on the water level. Flash floods can occur with little to no warning, so seek higher ground immediately if it starts raining heavily.
