There’s a rare celestial phenomenon that happens rarely, where five planets align in the night sky.

Beginning this March, you’ll have the chance to see it again!

Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, and Mars will all appear to line up in the predawn sky.

The planets will appear to be in a row because of the way they travel on their plane of the solar system. They will be visible to the naked eye, although if you have a telescope or binoculars, it would be worth breaking those out.

The best opportunity to see this planet showcase is between March 25th to 30th, 2023. You'll want to look towards the western horizon and, if possible, without any mountains or buildings blocking your immediate view.

Luckily for us, the planets tend to shine bright, even during the brighter hours.

For the best odds of seeing this stunning event in the Alaska night sky, try to find a remote place with little city light. Fortunately, here in Alaska, that isn't too difficult to do!

If you have the opportunity, keep your eyes on the sky this spring.

This event happens so rarely that it’s worth trying to spot it during the dusky hours of twilight. If you get the chance to see it, it will blow you away!
