It's the most wonderful time of the year in the last frontier - Aurora Borealis season! We enjoyed many months of the incredible midnight sun and now for the first time in over 90 days we are getting real sunsets that lead to dark night sky. The best part about all of that hype is that this actually means that we have opportunities to see the brilliant colors of the dancing Northern Lights. Just wait for a clear night and be sure to post up outdoors and wait for the show of your life.

1. Flattop Mountain – Anchorage

The most climbed mountain in the entire state of Alaska sure holds a different level of excitement when the Aurora Borealis is gleaming in the sky!

2. Hope

The quaint little town on the Kenai Peninsula is special for many, many reasons. When the Aurora is dancing, you will probably feel like packing all of your belongings and never leaving. It's THAT incredible!

3. Fairbanks

One of the greatest temperature swings on the planet and Northern Lights shows that are to die for. Fairbanks is life!

4. Kodiak

If you head to Monashka Bay when the Aurora Borealis is dancing, you will feel like you are a part of an actual dream. Spectacular is an understatement.

5. Steese Hwy

From Fairbanks to Circle, you're sure to be spoiled with incredible beauty during an Aurora show. Bring a tent and do some winter camping for a truly majestic experience.

6. Coldfoot

If you just so happen to be super, duper north (and say, maybe working on the slope) - be sure to look up!

Check out McKinley Park or Stampede Trail and end your day at Otto Lake staring up at the Aurora.

8. Cooper Landing

Head to the Upper Russian Lake for a day of snowshoeing and let your eyes be delighted by the dancing lights of the Aurora.

With a tiny little population of under 300 residents, you'll feel super relaxed and tranquil just sitting outside and staring up at the Aurora at night.
