This Alaska Waterfall Is So Hidden, Almost Nobody Has Seen It In Person

Located in the Tongass National Forest, the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world, this entire area is like a magical wonderland. And with this average amount of rainfall, it’s not surprising that there’s a hidden waterfall or two nearby.

This waterfall is easy to get to on a lovely little hike called the Lunch Falls Trail.

This trail starts in the Settlers Cove parking lot, and it’s easy to follow. There are little boardwalks and easy-to-follow markers to find your way.

The trail is well maintained, and fun to hike all year long.

The boardwalks help when it’s very rainy, so you can skip the mud and slippery sections. This easy loop trail is a joy to do, and you don’t have to be an experienced hiker to complete it.

In fact, the entire trail is only .8 miles long.

And the elevation gain is a nominal 88 feet, making it a quick enjoyable excursion to see this hidden waterfall. And it’s a quiet trail, not normally busy with a lot of people.

The trail will take you along the coastline, delivering stunning views of the ocean.

There are even some access points to the beach along the route, so you can take your time on the hike and really enjoy all of the different aspects.

Lunch Creek Bridge crosses over Lunch Creek and offers beautiful views of a rushing creek.

There’s a junction after the bridge that showcases the stairs that will take you up to the waterfall. The entire hike is so easy and beautiful, but hardly anyone knows about it.

This is the perfect detour if you’re spending time in Ketchikan.
