Take This Easy Hike In Alaska For Stunning Glacier Views

If you’re looking for an easy, fun trail with stunning glacier views, the East Glacier Loop Trail in Juneau, Alaska, will win on all counts! This little trail shows off the beautiful Mendenhall Glacier while taking you through the gorgeous forest scenery in the area.

If you’re in Juneau, you need to head on out to Mendenhall Glacier.

The glacier is a quick drive about 12 miles from downtown Juneau. The glacier is 13.6 miles long, and located in Mendenhall Valley.

The trail is well maintained and easy to travel.

The steeper areas have cool boardwalks with railings. You won’t have to worry about slippery sections when you’re out on the trail, as long as you’re hiking on the boardwalk.

The whole trail is 3.1 miles long.

It loops out from Mendenhall Visitor’s Center. You’ll hike through dense vegetation filled with willow, alder, and cottonwood.

The entire elevation gain is only 774 feet throughout the whole trail.

The trail is quiet, and not a difficult one to complete. Many people complete it in 1-2 hours. Bring a raincoat in case the weather changes, and some good hiking sneakers.

You’ll find beautiful natural features all throughout the trail.

Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife of beaver, mountain goats, and even bears. There’s so much to see in such a short walk.
