Alabama offers such a variety of activities that let us enjoy the outdoors, one of which is kayaking. There are several places located throughout the Yellowhammer State that offer kayaking trips, including DeSoto State Park. DeSoto State Park is located atop of beautiful Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, Alabama.
One of its most popular features is DeSoto Falls, a beautiful 104-foot-tall waterfall.
To experience a great view of this waterfall, DeSoto State Park offers a wonderful kayak trip you don't want to miss.
Opening weekend for kayaking at DeSoto State Park will be March 20-21, 2021. Miller’s Bend Paddle Shack at the park will have sit-on-top kayaks for rent, which will allow you to enjoy an unforgettable view of DeSoto Falls while paddling the Little River.
DeSoto State Park's upcoming kayak trip will begin at the DeSoto Falls Picnic Area. Kayaks will be launched at the boat ramp above the A. A. Miller Dam. Each trip will last approximately four hours, or how ever long you want it to last.
This scenic kayak trip will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. by appointment only. The fees will be $15 per hour for a single sit-on-top kayak, and $25 per hour for a 2-person (tandem) sit-on-top kayak. Life vests and paddles will be provided.
