The Epic Ranch In Montana Where You Can Take Home 100-Million-Year-Old Fossils
One of Montana’s greatest treasures is the prehistoric Dinosaur Trail, a series of museums, state parks and other dinosaur-themed attractions that span the state. And the only thing better than seeing real fossils in a museum is digging for them yourself, which is what you can do on a privately owned ranch in Glendive.

The ranch is within view of Makoshika State Park, a hot spot for dinosaur fossils.

Not only can you take home dinosaur fossils, but you'll also find petrified wood, colorful rocks, and other artifacts from the past.

The guides will show you what to look for, how to excavate fossils, and how to cast or prepare them. They also supply all the necessary equipment.

You'll have to make a reservation. The cost is $100 per person, or you can do a half day for $75. Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

In the past, fossils from Pachycephalosaurs, Triceratops, alligators, turtles, and even Tyrannosaurus Rex have been found here.
Starting in April, you can call 406-365-4133 to make a reservation to dig for fossils. Here are some other spots in Montana to check out when you’re feeling adventurous.
