Missouri's got so many eerie ghost stories and tales of the paranormal that we all probably have our favorites. Even if you don't actively seek out a paranormal experience, you might stumble upon it when you least expect it. This haunted restaurant in Missouri, for example, sits in one of the state's - maybe even America's - most haunted destinations. You might even be served a side of the paranormal with your meal.
Most Missourians know that The Lemp Mansion in St. Louis has a tragic history and has become, in fact, one of the most haunted destinations in Missouri.
Once the home of the Lemp family, the mansion has been transformed into a restaurant and inn. However, several family members are still said to remain, including the three who committed suicide in the home.
Their spirits aren't the only ones said to roam the restaurant and inn. William Lemp Jr. is said to have had an illegitimate child that he kept hidden in the attic, away from prying eyes.
The little boy is believed to have had Down Syndrome and spent the whole of his life in the attic.
Don't be too surprised if odd things start happening during your visit to this historic restaurant.
Former employees and guests tell of all kinds of strange occurrences - from the sound of people running up and down the stairs when no one is there to lights that turn on and off on their own.
Oh, but that's just the start. You might see the shadow of a figure or hear a piano playing, even though no one's there.
Some people leave toys for Zeke, the little boy in the attic, to play with. He's often been seen peeking out from the windows at the mansion.
Lemp Mansion also hosts ghost tours. While you're there, make sure you stop by for a meal at the haunted restaurant, too.
The menu's brimming with a generous selection of delicious dishes - from fettuccine Alfredo and pan-fried chicken to housemade meatloaf and fried shrimp.
