What’s living in Missouri like?

Despite all the above weird laws, living in Missouri really is quite delightful! We have four seasons, lots of natural wonders, and tons of top-rate attractions. How much do we love Missouri? Let us count the ways: our state capital is stunning; we have an entire underworld of glorious caves to explore; we are the “Gateway to the West” (and we have a fabulous arch to prove it!); our barbecue is out of this world; we have world-class attractions; and, we have an amazing professional sports scene!

What are some strange things about living in Missouri?

As the above list of bizarre and weird laws in Missouri indicates, there are some strange things about living in the Show-Me State. (We view these things as “unique” and are totally on board, however.) From rural traffic jams (yes — they are a thing!) and toasted ravioli (it’s the best!) to debates about our state’s pronunciation — sometimes it’s Missour(ee) and sometimes it’s Missour(uh) — and the whole confusing “Kansas City” issue (yes, it’s in Missouri!), our state has some unique quirks and oddities.

What are some fun facts about Missouri?

Missouri is a downright interesting state, full of unique history and facts! Of course, everyone knows Mark Twain hailed from the Show-Me State, and that’s something we’re very proud of. Here’s another fun one: the ice cream cone was invented during the St. Louis World Fair in Missouri in 1904. (You’re welcome, America!) The most powerful earthquake to ever strike the United States occurred in 1811, and was centered in New Madrid, Missouri. The quake shook more than one million square miles, and was felt as far as 1,000 miles away. And the first successful parachute jump to be made from a moving airplane was made by Captain Berry at St. Louis, in 1912, a fact we think is pretty cool!
