Housed In An Old Train Depot, The Strawberry Cafe In Mississippi Has Been Satisfying Appetites For Decades
The Strawberry Café, housed in a historic train depot, offers a diverse menu of local favorites and has been serving homemade food since 1983.
Not many restaurants last decades. Then again, not many restaurants compare to The Strawberry Café. The longstanding eatery boasts a tasty fare that includes everything from local favorites to signature soups. An expansive menu is just part of the café’s allure. The setting is definitely another, and that’s because it’s housed in a historic train depot. Take a look:
Serving up homemade grub since 1983, The Strawberry Café takes the title of Madison’s first restaurant.
The café’s charming name came about because Madison once had a reputation for growing deliciously sweet strawberries.
Housed in a former train depot, The Strawberry Café has been in the same location since opening. And while the building’s exterior still bears signs of its past life, the interior has been transformed into a cozy restaurant.
The café’s location isn’t the only thing that hasn’t changed over the years. Since opening, The Strawberry Café has remained committed to providing friendly, personal service and tasty homemade food.
And though many things have remained the same, the café has seen a few changes over the years. For one, the fare has grown tremendously. Local favorites, like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, make up a majority of the menu.
There’s also an array of specialty sandwiches and burgers, which bear train-inspired monikers, such as…
…the Train Car, Madison Station, and Depot Burger.
Pasta dishes, salads, and seafood can also be found on the menu.
And don’t forget about The Strawberry Café’s variety of signature soups.
As if the tasty options weren’t plentiful enough, The Strawberry Café features daily lunch specials as well as a brunch menu, which is served on Saturdays, from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., and Sundays, from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
With a fare that's as varied as it is tasty, it's not surprising that The Strawberry Cafe has endured for decades.
