Let’s face it; when it comes to true southern hospitality, Mississippi can’t be beat. I mean, it is nicknamed the Hospitality State, after all. (And it really just doesn’t get more official than that.) Still not convinced? Here are 11 things that prove Mississippi truly is the Hospitality State.
If you’ve ever broken down, had a dead battery, or got a flat tire in Mississippi, then you’re fully aware that residents are quick to offer assistance – without expecting anything in return.

From borrowing cups of sugar to lending a hand with yard work, neighbors in Mississippi look out for one another.
It’s almost guaranteed that the new person to a Mississippi neighborhood will be welcomed with food; amazing, home-cooked food.
Life in Mississippi tends to move at a slower pace, and part of that may be because Mississippians are always up for chat…with friends and strangers alike.

Whoever said "chivalry is dead" has clearly never been to Mississippi. From opening doors for strangers to allowing someone with fewer items to skip in line at the store, residents are the very definition of polite.
