8 Restaurants In Mississippi Where Your Meal Is Free If You Can Eat It All
Got some serious eating prowess? Well, here’s your chance to show off your skills as these eight Mississippi restaurants will actually reward you for stuffing your face. Does it get any better than that?
1. Maria’s Cantina, Southaven
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you love Mexican food, then Maria’s “Ocho-Cinco 5 lb Burrito Challenge” is for you! As you’ve probably already guessed, the challenge requires finishing off a huge burrito stuffed with lots of meat, beans, and vegetables. And while the meal isn’t free if finished in the 45 minute time limit, those completing the challenge will win $100 – more than enough to cover the cost of that monster burrito.
Thanks to several locations, food lovers will have ample opportunities to take part in the “Mugshots Challenge.” So, what does it consist of? Oh, just three Mugshots burgers stacked high joined by a side of French fries, which must be finished in 12 minutes or less. Anyone able to complete the challenge will get their meal free as well as a t-shirt (that may not fit after consuming all that food!).
Another challenge for burrito lovers, El Agave’s “Big Daddy Burrito Challenge” requires consuming an entire four-pound burrito which, by the way, is stuffed to the max with steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, fajita vegetables, rice, beans, lettuce, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. This challenge may seem simple enough…until the five minute time limit is mentioned! Those who are actually able to complete the challenge will get their meal free in addition to having their picture put up on the Wall of Fame – and what’s better than bragging rights?
There’s nothing like a good burger, so devouring three must mean triple the satisfaction, right? Well, now’s your chance to find out thanks to T’Beaux’s Blues Le Roux’s “Swamp Monster Burger Challenge.” The monster burger consists of three one-pound patties topped with bacon, cheese, mushrooms, onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and three sauces, which is served with a side of French fries and a 20 ounce drink! Anyone able to complete the challenge will get their meal free, a t-shirt, and their picture on the Wall of Fame.
The “Monster Burrito Challenge” at Alumni’s is definitely accurately named as contenders are required to scarf down a huge beef-filled burrito topped with homemade pepper jack cheese, which is joined by an equally large portion of nachos and salsa. In order to claim the prizes, which include a free meal, t-shirt, and bragging rights, the challenger must eat everything within 15 minutes.
Looking to really push yourself? Then head on over the Twisted Burger Company and try your hand (or mouth?) at the “F5 Challenge.” You’ll have 22 minutes to consume a two-pound cheeseburger, which is accompanied by a one-pound side of French fries. Completing the challenge in 22 minutes will only score you a free tee, but if you’re able to break the current record of 12:29 (as of 3/2015) you’ll also get your meal for free.
If you’re looking for a “whammy” of a challenge, than you’ll want to visit Ridgeland’s Burgers and Blues where you’ll be able to give “The Whammy” a try. So, just what will you be facing? Three one-pound patties with all the trimmings that must be devoured in 30 minutes or less. Should you be successful in your attempt, you’ll be in good company as “Man vs. Food’s” Adam Richman completed this very challenge back in 2011. Bragging rights not enough? Don’t worry, victors will get a free t-shirt and photo on the Wall of Fame, in addition to a free meal.
Calling all steak lovers! Stop by Duke’s Steakhouse and give the “72 oz. Steak Challenge” a whirl. As you’ve probably already guessed, the challenge requires finishing off a 72-ounce steak accompanied by a baked potato, salad, and a roll. Those able to complete the challenge will receive a free meal, t-shirt, their picture on Duke’s Wall of Fame, and, undeniably, a very full stomach.
I don’t know about you, but just reading about these challenges practically put me in a food coma! Have you tried any of these or know of any other food challenges in Mississippi? Share your thoughts/comments below.
