It’s true that Christmas comes but once a year but many towns across Minnesota choose to celebrate it every day of December! In every region of the state, there’s a Christmas town that is full of festive cheer, complete with Santa visits and twinkling light displays. Every one of them will put you into the holiday spirit but one of our favorites is the charming town of Stillwater. This small town on the St. Croix River pulls out all the stops every holiday season. If you’re looking for a place to get in the mood for Christmas, look no further than Stillwater, the one Christmas town in Minnesota that’s simply a must-visit this season.
Stillwater, Minnesota, is one of the most charming towns in the state. It’s about 25 miles east of the Twin Cities, making it an ideal spot for a winter day trip.
It’s lovely all year, but Stillwater comes to life at Christmastime. For one thing, the town gets decked out in its Christmas best for the holiday. For example, check out the Christmas tree at the Lowell Park gazebo.
The Twinkle Party and tree lighting ceremony is also fun for all ages. This nighttime event will add a little magic to your Christmas season this year.
Stillwater is also a great place to get your holiday shopping done. Main Street Stillwater is full of local shops that are filled with treasures. Many items are locally made, and all purchases support local businesses.
Amidst your holiday gift shopping, don’t forget to stop into Käthe Wohlfahrt. This Christmas store is packed with beautiful German Christmas decor that will add a traditional touch to your holiday decorations.
Of course, there are many other activities to do in Stillwater that are not related to shopping. For example, your visit to Stillwater might be the perfect time to visit Santa! There are many places around town to meet with Santa, so you’ll likely have no trouble finding the right setting for you.
You can even take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town! This is a great way to see the festive sight of the lights and other decorations strung up all over Stillwater.
And don’t forget to look out for the costumed Victorian carolers. They can be seen walking around town throughout the Christmas season, and their festive songs will be sure to lift your spirits!
